A Little Bit of Randomness!

Right now I'm getting way ahead of myself. Another holiday is coming up and I'm so excited for Bean's first St. Patrick's Day! I have picked a few outfits for him already. The links to these outfits are below the pictures.

I can't wait to dress him up and do his little chalkboard picture!

This was J's off week so we had a great weekend together. Staying home and relaxing is beginning to be our new routine these days. I have to get out of this lazy, hermit stage that I am in. If I'm not cleaning, I'm on the couch with Bean watching tv. I'm breaking out the Zumba DvD's tomorrow so that may help me. All I do is hang around in yoga pants, leggings, t-shirts and pj's. I think this may be because I was in a 3/4 (smallest I have ever been) before I found out I was pregnant and now I'm hanging out in the 10/11 range. I realize that this isn't a bad size to be because believe it or not, sometimes I feel comfortable with it. It's just that I had worked so hard to get down to the weight I WAS. I'm hoping that Zumba will give me alot of energy and help my self-confidence.

I tried to make coffee tonight. HA! I texted my mama-in-law and asked her how she made the coffee when she was here and she gave me the exact directions. I'm pretty sure I did everything she said but of course, I threw that junk out. It was gross! Seriously, I can't even make coffee?

This post was titled A Little Bit of Randomness for a reason. It was random!

Here are few pics of Bean to brighten your day

Two Month Update and Shots!

It's hard to believe that Bean is two months old now. I love watching him grow and change but it hurts my heart to see it go by so fast. I remember how scared I was when we first brought him home. It's crazy to look back on it because now it just seems like taking care of him is all I've ever known.

Now for the two month update:
Weight: 11 pounds
Length: 23 inches
Eyes: Hazel (just like his mama)
Hair: Brown

Here are a few pics from his two month chalkboard session:

Bean did so well with these pictures. He is starting to smile so much more and I know it will only be a matter of time until he starts cackling and laughing.

Bean finally met his great-grandfather for the first time this week! It was precious. My grandfather is 92 years old and still going strong. He has worked so hard all of his life and has never lost his faith. If Alex grows up to be even half the man that my pap is, he will do alright.

Now for shots! This was an AWFUL experience. More for me I think than it was for him. J held his arms for me and I stood in the corner and cried! As soon as he was finished, I picked him up and put his bottle in his mouth. Surprise! The crying stopped and he forgot all about everything. He slept on the ride home and I gave him the first dose of infant's Tylenol when he woke up. He slept off and on throughout the evening but would wake up every half hour or so screaming bloody murder. Poor baby, I knew his legs were sore! I picked him up and rocked him until we went back to sleep each time. He woke up for good around 1:30 am. When I heard him making his little noises I walked over and he smiled really big at me. I was so excited to see that smile!
I played with him until about 6:00 am and after his feeding, he went back to sleep with his little thumb in his mouth. So cute :) Overall, I would say the shots were a success. Especially after all of the horror stories I had heard. I was more than grateful that he didn't develop a fever. Maybe now I can prepare myself for the next round of shots since I know what to expect. Who am i kidding?! I'm gonna cry everytime.

Before the shots..

After..

He was such a brave little toaster :D

Oh Oooo Laredo!

Texas here we come! So excited that we were finally able to take Bean to Texas to meet the rest of his family.
We bought him a pair of shades for the occasion! Believe it or not, he didn't mind them one bit!

I thought this day was going to be awful because right off the bat, J forgot the Baby Bjorn I bought specifically for the trip in the car. Since we were running a little bit behind, it was in our best interest that I just forget about it! I had no time at all to go back. When we got to the part where you have to take off your shoes and all that, THEY MADE ME TAKE OFF THE BABY'S SHOES! No, I am not kidding people. Keep in mind, we were in a very small airport with a very small amount of travelers. The best advice I can give when taking baby on an airplane:First of all, with pre-made bottles with water only, they will make you open every single bottle to test it for chemicals. I can understand that but just warning you. If you are prepared for this, it makes traveling a whole lot easier. Unfortunately for me, I had my whole diaper bag organized in my normal OCD manner so after they went through it, I was in a state of shock. Keep bottles on top! That way everything doesn't get messed up. Second of all, make damn sure he/she is sucking on a paci, bottle, boob, or something else! Nothing like a crying infant on an airplane. I can remember what it was like before I became pregnant with Bean. A crying baby always makes for a VERY LONG flight! Thankfully we knew this before the plane took off. Paci in mouth (see pic below) was a lifesaver! Apparently its not as bad going up as it is going down but it's still very crucial that they do this. I was so proud of him during the flights. He fell asleep as soon as we were in the air and slept the whole time! We had our layover in Dallas and he decided to wake up. All I could think about was, "oh shit". I was SURE he wouldn't go back to sleep on the next flight. I was so nervous when we were boarding. Everyone was looking at us like oh my gosh not a baby. Well let me tell you, this baby went back to sleep AGAIN! He started to wake up while we were descending so instead of panicking I tugged on the paci a little bit to make sure he was sucking it. I did this the whole way down. If you tug on whatever is in his/her mouth, he/she will suck harder.

It was so nice in Texas! The weather was amazing. Even though I absolutely love the snow and cold weather, it was nice to have a break from it. Bean was able to wear shorts for the first time and little onesies with the short sleeves and pants. So adorbs!

First time meeting his Tia Diana. This was so sweet. I was holding back tears and noone knew! He is crazy about her already :)

Braelyn loves Bean. They are best friends already! I'm for sure she will take good care of him when they are older. Jaedon meeting Bean! He wasn't so sure about him.

After an amazing dinner out, he was trying to laugh! He didn't do it but his smile was to die for!

He missed his cousins! Is that a pink fish on his onesie you say? Why yes it is! lol I thought it was completely adorable and he didn't mind it at all!

Fun times with Tia Ale

Watching videos on dads phone.

While we were there, J's sister at Moments Photography by Kelley took some pictures of Bean for us. Seriously, this was one of the funniest times that we have spent together. Bean decided that since he was naked in half of the pictures that he was going to pee on everything a hundred times. Oh yah, let's not forget he that was so relaxed he wanted to go #2. VERY SCARY when the diaper bag is in the other room. There was a large amount of panic going around in that room! We were finally able to get everything cleaned up and the baby calmed down. This definitely belongs in my top ten list of poopies gone wild!
Get ready for cuteness overload! AMAZING!

Texas was a blast! I'm so glad that I let go of my fear of taking Bean on an airplane with all these germs floating around. I can't wait to go back. We spent our Valentine's Day traveling and we didn't get home till almost midnight so we decided to relax. I wasn't able to do any chalkboard pics for this and I feel awful because it was his first Valentine's Day. I'm really glad that Kelley was able to do a couple of pictures for the occasion. Oh yah, I also had to purchase another Baby Bjorn carrier while I was there for the trip back. It made everything SO MUCH easier!

Waiting to board at the airport!

Month 1 Recap

I can't believe how much our little angel has grown. This is Bean at five weeks old. Check out those eyes. I could look in to them all day long!

So far, my best friend is his little vibrating chair (shower gift from his auntie Gloria) and the swing that goes with it (from his nanny). He loves to sit in either of them and watch Nick Jr and Baby Einstein movies. This works great for me because I can clean the house, do laundry or whatever else I need to do while he is occupied. He LOVES TV. Not sure if that's a good thing but it works for us :)

We were finally able to find a local photographer to take some "official" family pics of us and some pictures of Bean. She did an amazing job and I highly recommend her for any of your photography needs. To reach them by Facebook you can click this link: Shooting Star Photography or you can visit the website. She took way too many pictures to post on here but here a few :)

Around this time, Bean gave me his first smile! Not the gassy reflex smile, but the real thing! It was amazing. Technically he first smiled at one of my old coworkers but still he did it. I was one proud mama. Ever since that day, he has been smiling like crazy! I love it when he wakes up in the morning and I walk over to his little port a crib. He always has a big ol' grin on his face when he sees mama. One of the BEST feelings in the world I must say.

His favorite position is laying on my chest. I love this and I'm sure that when he gets too big to do it I will literally cry my eyes out.

After he turned a month old, Bean decided that he wanted to stay up all night and sleep all day! This didn't bother me of course, because I'm a little bit of a night owl myself. During this sleepless time, I took lots of pictures. I think he may have gotten tired of it!

Bean is loving bathtime now. Normally he would scream bloody murder the whole time I was bathing him. It made for a very interesting, nerve racking few minutes. After a few times, I became as fast as lightning! In and out, that's my motto :) Here is a pic of his first ever bath. Ah, the memories! This little bath tub will not be used for awhile because he kept sliding down and it was very hard to bathe him. I love it tho, so it will stay in his bathroom for a couple of months. For now I'm bathing him in our bathroom with a normal baby tub that has a foam insert. So much easier!

Oh yah, a little word of advice that I learned very quick: I was one of those mamas who thought that I had to buy all of these expensive clothes for baby to just lay around in. NO! I started buying the little Carter's onesies with the feet. So easy and comfortable for baby to lounge around in. Of course when we go out I dress him up in super cute clothes but for the most part, onesies it is!
